Description
I spent the last day in Cuba looking for a specific sign painted on a wall; a famous red and yellow sign that says Cuba on it that is found on many postcards with bicycle taxis or a colorful old car driving by it. It was the 'money shot' I was after, but it wasn't meant to be. However, going through my photos I'm not disappointed at all that I never found the sign because I'm a lot happier that I found scenes that captured moments like this.
This photo was taken on the Paseo del Prado which is a fairly busy pedestrian walkway in the middle of a busy street, so the fact that I got him alone and no cars was great. Within a stone's throw from where he was sitting is one of the busier and more congested tourist areas of Havana, so when I saw him alone on the bench I got quite a few shots from as many angles as I could until people started passing again. For someone who likes patina on old buildings Havana is like you've died and gone to heaven, but I had to focus on it on a larger scale like this because if I was doing detail shots I would have never made it down a street in a day. There were some great patinas on the faces of people looking out their windows or hanging out on their balconies.
